Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
McGibbs throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and moves out of range.
Jones misses with an uppercut. McGibbs saw that one coming.

and Jones connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Jones works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones throws a looping overhand right but McGibbs ducks down to avoid it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McGibbs moves out of range of the strikes.
McGibbs misses with a low kick.

Jones moves into range and clinches up with McGibbs.
McGibbs is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

McGibbs pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.

Jones blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jones creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
McGibbs throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of McGibbs's head.

Jones presses McGibbs against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jones.
McGibbs blocks an uppercut.
McGibbs seems to have got his legs back now.
Jones is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Jones gets through McGibbs's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Jones is leaning against McGibbs and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Jones creates a bit of space for himself and rocks McGibbs with a big uppercut! McGibbs tries to clinch up but Jones pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples McGibbs to the mat! McGibbs covers up and Jones unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Pete Jones!
