Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Slash The Destroyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The Destroyer darts in and clinches Shimazu up against the cage.

The Destroyer successfully pulls guard.
The Destroyer wants to get back to his feet but Shimazu is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Shimazu gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Shimazu moves in looking to clinch but The Destroyer pushes him off.
Shimazu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
The Destroyer is looking to land body kicks.
The Destroyer fails with a takedown attempt.
Shimazu stuffs the takedown attempt from The Destroyer. The Destroyer gets slowly back to his feet.
The Destroyer throws a head kick that misses
and Shimazu counters with a straight right hand.

The Destroyer throws a lazy head kick
and Shimazu counters with a nice body kick.
The Destroyer is breathing heavily.

and Shimazu counters with a takedown into side control.
Shimazu is staying tight to The Destroyer's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Shimazu wants to control but The Destroyer is keeping him busy.
Shimazu is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt The Destroyer will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Shimazu sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but The Destroyer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Shimazu in side control, throwing shots but The Destroyer defends.

Shimazu decides to stand back up. Shimazu steps back and let's The Destroyer get back to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shimazu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shimazu looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Shimazu working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The Destroyer is trying to stand up here but Shimazu is controlling him well.
The Destroyer is in trouble now - Shimazu has advanced to mount!

Shimazu gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Shimazu throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by The Destroyer.
The Destroyer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shimazu is fending him off so far but The Destroyer persists. Nope, Shimazu circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slash The Destroyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shimazu has closed the distance and engaged The Destroyer in a clinch.

Shimazu is trying to work for a single leg takedown but The Destroyer pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The Destroyer goes for a takedown in the clinch but Shimazu prevents it.

Shimazu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Destroyer uses from the top position.
The Destroyer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Shimazu has his hands on The Destroyer's head, controlling the position.

Shimazu is pushing The Destroyer's head away, looking to escape. The Destroyer manages to hold on to the position though.
The Destroyer tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

The Destroyer decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Shimazu moves into range and clinches up with The Destroyer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Shimazu has hold of one of The Destroyer's legs. The Destroyer is fighting the takedown attempt but Shimazu gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Shimazu dominated that round.
That's time! The Destroyer's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



The Destroyer closes the distance and clinches.

Shimazu jumps guard.
The Destroyer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimazu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The Destroyer working some strikes from top position.

The Destroyer drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shimazu looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shimazu looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shimazu!

Shimazu decides to take the fight back to the feet.
The Destroyer throws a sloppy head kick and Shimazu moves out of range easily.
The Destroyer tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Shimazu has taken the fight to the clinch.
The Destroyer can't break the clinch.
Shimazu dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

The Destroyer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Shimazu is just too persistent for him and manages to trip The Destroyer to the mat. The Destroyer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Shimazu tries to free his leg and advance position but The Destroyer is retaining full guard.
The Destroyer wants to sweep here but Shimazu controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Shimazu stands up and waves to The Destroyer to follow him.

and Shimazu finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

Shimazu closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Shimazu using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shimazu has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics The Destroyer uses from the top position.

The Destroyer trying to control but Shimazu is working from the bottom.
William Shimazu has got the better of the ground game so far.
The Destroyer looking to sit in guard and control but Shimazu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The Destroyer pulls Shimazu in to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shimazu is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Shimazu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The Destroyer is trying to keep Shimazu in close.

We're going to have a standup here because Slash The Destroyer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
A head kick by The Destroyer misses
and Shimazu counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. The Destroyer is lucky that one didn't land flush.
The Destroyer leaves Shimazu with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Shimazu counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Shimazu.

Shimazu gets control of The Destroyer's arms and successfully pulls guard. Shimazu will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Shimazu looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
The Destroyer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Shimazu looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but The Destroyer puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Shimazu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The Destroyer is trying to break free.
Shimazu putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has The Destroyer in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The Destroyer pulls Shimazu into guard.
The Destroyer keeping moving, preventing Shimazu from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Destroyer tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

William Shimazu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Shimazu lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Nice takedown defense from Shimazu. No joy for The Destroyer on that attempt.

and Shimazu makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. The Destroyer really felt that one!

Shimazu manages to get an easy takedown there - catching The Destroyer on his heels. He'll look to pass The Destroyer's guard now, I'm sure.

Shimazu decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

The Destroyer prevents the takedown attempt.

The Destroyer goes for a takedown attempt but Shimazu pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slash The Destroyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Shimazu wants to clinch up but The Destroyer keeps it at a distance.
The Destroyer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The Destroyer takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Shimazu tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but The Destroyer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Slash The Destroyer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from The Destroyer.
Shimazu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says The Destroyer as he avoids it easily.
The Destroyer tries to clinch but Shimazu moves out of range.
Shimazu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? The Destroyer is fending him off so far but Shimazu persists. Nope, The Destroyer circles away and we're back to standing.
Horrible takedown by Shimazu or perhaps it was just good defense by The Destroyer which made him look bad.

and Shimazu connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Slash The Destroyer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shimazu lands with a slapping head kick.
The Destroyer tries to clinch up but Shimazu circles away and keeps his distance.
Shimazu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from The Destroyer.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shimazu.
The Destroyer will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The Destroyer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Shimazu darts in and clinches The Destroyer up against the cage.

Slash The Destroyer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The Destroyer has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Shimazu is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
William Shimazu is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Shimazu prevents The Destroyer from breaking the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shimazu pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The Destroyer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shimazu is fending him off so far but The Destroyer persists. Nope, Shimazu circles away and we're back to standing.

And that's the end of the fight!
William Shimazu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Shimazu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
