Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andy Gurvits! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lumpiot Paskaks! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paskaks wants to clinch. Gurvits shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Gurvits trying to pass the guard but Paskaks defending well. Gurvits could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Paskaks is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gurvits's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gurvits's back! Gurvits trying to control the position but Paskaks manages to sink in the hooks. Gurvits is holding onto Paskaks's left hand, preventing any choke attempts. Paskaks is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gurvits is defending well though. Paskaks let's go of the attempt for now. Gurvits preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Paskaks. Gurvits is trying to get back to his feet but Paskaks has full control of the position and if anything, Gurvits has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gurvits trying to control the action but Paskaks just sinks the hooks in. Paskaks is trying to stick to Gurvits's back but Gurvits is turning into Paskaks. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Paskaks's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Gurvits. Gurvits wants to control from the top but Paskaks keeps moving. Gurvits looking to pass the guard. Paskaks trying to keep a closed guard but Gurvits is proving a slippery customer.
Gurvits trying to control but Paskaks is working from the bottom. Gurvits pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Paskaks is keeping the position for now. Gurvits has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Paskaks controls Gurvits momentarily but Gurvits frees himself.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Gurvits shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Paskaks counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Gurvits fails with a takedown attempt. Paskaks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A cross from Paskaks lands. Paskaks throws a body kick that misses. Paskaks tries to bum rush Gurvits with a series of wild strikes but Gurvits uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Paskaks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paskaks wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andy Gurvits. That's going to take a lot out of him. Paskaks jabbing away but nothing is landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gurvits shoots in for a takedown but Paskaks shows good takedown defense. Paskaks misses with a few strikes there.

Andy Gurvits seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gurvits shoots in and bounces Paskaks off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Paskaks controls Gurvits momentarily but Gurvits frees himself. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Gurvits trying to control the position from guard on top but Paskaks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gurvits pushing down on Paskaks's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gurvits is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Paskaks defends it well. Gurvits is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paskaks doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gurvits. Gurvits wants to work for an arm triangle but Paskaks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Paskaks wants to control but Gurvits is keeping busy.
Paskaks wants to improve his position but Gurvits is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Andy Gurvits will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Paskaks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gurvits defends it nicely. Paskaks comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Gurvits feints and as Paskaks raises his hands in defense, Gurvits changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Gurvits drops back, looking for a kneebar! Paskaks looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Paskaks looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Paskaks! Paskaks working away. Paskaks is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gurvits has escaped the position, nice work there. Gurvits taking punishment in the form of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. The ground and pound from Paskaks seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Paskaks has hold of Gurvits's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gurvits tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Paskaks cranks the arm and Gurvits screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gurvits, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Lumpiot Paskaks!
