PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pete Donovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pete Donovan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Scott!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donovan ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A slapping body kick lands there for Donovan.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Donovan lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Scott has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Scott and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Donovan throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Donovan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Donovan tries to close the distance and clinch but Scott swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pete Donovan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Donovan counters with a series of strikes. Scott will be more careful next time no doubt.
Donovan throws a sloppy head kick and Scott moves out of range easily.
Donovan misses with a body kick.
Donovan is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Scott moves out of range as Donovan throws a body kick.
Scott throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Donovan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Donovan throws a low kick, looking for Scott's leg but Scott calmly moves out of range.
Donovan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Donovan doesn't manage to clinch there - Scott circles away.
Donovan fails to land with a series of punches.
Donovan scores with a head kick. Scott tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Michael Scott has been cut.
Donovan throws a leg kick but Scott sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Donovan lands a head kick!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Donovan throws a low kick, looking for Scott's leg but Scott calmly moves out of range.
Donovan misses with a straight right.
Donovan throws a front kick aimed at Scott's knee but Scott avoids it well.
Donovan misses with a low kick.
Donovan motions for Scott to come forward. Donovan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Donovan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Scott.
Scott shoots in looking for a takedown. Donovan tries to sprawl out of it but Scott keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Donovan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Scott swats away the attempt to clinch by Donovan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Donovan tries to clinch there but Scott circles away.
Donovan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Donovan bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Donovan misses with a body kick.
Donovan tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into side control. Donovan won't be happy with that.
Donovan stops Scott from passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Scott trying to control the action but Donovan is working from the bottom.
Scott is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Donovan will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Michael Scott's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Donovan goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Donovan motions for Scott to come forward. Donovan throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Donovan misses with a lunging right hand

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into side control. Donovan won't be happy with that.

Donovan is letting Scott control him for a moment.

Scott working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Donovan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Scott has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Scott is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Donovan is trying to escape and Scott transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Donovan is forced to tap! Nice work there by Scott! Very nice indeed!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Michael Scott!
