Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mikey Hogan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Lutter!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hogan throws a right and a left that Lutter avoids nicely.
Lutter blocks a jab.
Lutter has his takedown stuffed
and Hogan counters with a three punch combo that has Lutter backing up. Lutter nods at Hogan to acknowledge the strikes.
Lutter tries for a takedown but Hogan circles away easily
and Lutter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nick Lutter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hogan throws a right hand that Lutter ducks under and follows up with a left that Lutter also avoids with ease.

Mikey Hogan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Lutter.
Hogan connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

and Hogan moves into the clinch.

Lutter tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lutter is pulling down on Hogan's head. It's preventing any offense from Hogan, at least for the moment.

Lutter can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hogan controls the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Hogan counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Hogan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Hogan wants to free his trapped foot but Lutter is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lutter wants to control but Hogan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Lutter has his takedown stuffed

and Hogan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lutter's guard.
Lutter looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hogan is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Lutter trying to keep a closed guard but Hogan is proving a slippery customer.
Hogan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lutter swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lutter wants to hit a switch here but Hogan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Lutter there!

Lutter misses with a takedown attempt

and Hogan counters by moving into the clinch.

Hogan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lutter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Hogan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Lutter is looking for a sweep. Hogan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Lutter wants to control but Hogan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lutter trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Lutter is breathing heavily.
Hogan controlling from the full mount.

Lutter is in all sorts of trouble here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lutter tries to hold on but Hogan pushes him away.
Lutter is looking to improve his position but Hogan isn't that keen on the idea.
Lutter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Lutter is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lutter is working to get back to half guard.
Hogan controlling the pace for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hogan's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Hogan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Hogan gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Lutter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hogan!
Lutter is trying to control here but Hogan has managed to regain half guard.
Lutter not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Lutter wants to work for an arm triangle but Hogan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Lutter wants to pass to mount but Hogan is defending the position.

Hogan preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Lutter takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Hogan pushes Lutter off looking to stand but Lutter dives back in and keeps control.
Lutter is looking to take a break and control but Hogan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Lutter is looking to stall here but Hogan recovers full guard.
Lutter looking to sit in guard and control but Hogan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Hogan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lutter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hogan has managed to get both his arms back between Lutter's legs - danger averted.

Hogan content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Lutter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hogan engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Lutter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nick Lutter has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lutter is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lutter keeping moving, preventing Hogan from controlling successfully.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hogan scores with a nice right hand.
Mikey Hogan is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hogan.

I would just about give that final round to Nick Lutter.
Well Hogan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
