The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
SilvA finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
SilvA on the wrong end of a nice jab.

and SilvA makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
SilvA looks to score with a jab to the body but Chan is just out of range.
Chan wants to clinch.
SilvA moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

and SilvA counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

and SilvA counters with a shoot takedown. Chan fights it but they end up in guard.

SilvA drops back looking for a leg! Chan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chan manages to kick SilvA off! SilvA jumps back into Chan's guard.
SilvA stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chan swivels though and keeps the full guard.
SilvA is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
SilvA thows a big elbow that misses.

SilvA drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chan!
SilvA is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
SilvA wants to get back to full guard.
SilvA regains full guard. Nicely done.

Chan stands up and waves to SilvA to follow him.
SilvA throws a wild body kick that Chan sees coming a mile off.

SilvA throws a body punch but Chan moves out of range.

and SilvA counters with an outside leg kick.
SilvA fails with the takedown
and Chan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps SilvA thinking.
SilvA cracks the inside of Chan's front leg.
Chan scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. SilvA doesn't seem bothered though.

and SilvA counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
SilvA thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Chan's head.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Chan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Chan is looking to wear down SilvA with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
SilvA fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chan avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnny Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Royce SilvA.

and SilvA counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chan won't be happy with that.

SilvA goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Chan rolls with the submission and now he's on top in SilvA's guard! Nice work there by Chan!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing SilvA to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Chan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - SilvA pulls down on the head and he's put Chan to sleep! This one is all over!
