Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edward Whitlam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen Take My Hand as his entrance music. Edward Whitlam has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Edward Whitlam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Diaz!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitlam misses with a straight right.
Whitlam throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Whitlam keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Whitlam enables Diaz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Whitlam manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Diaz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Diaz cracks Whitlam with a solid left hand.
Diaz chips away with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz distracts Whitlam with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Whitlam trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Diaz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Diaz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Diaz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Whitlam is looking to stand up but Diaz isn't so interested in that idea.

Whitlam is looking for a triangle but Diaz pushes his legs off easily.

Diaz drops back looking for a leg! Whitlam is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Whitlam manages to kick Diaz off! Diaz jumps back into Whitlam's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Edward Whitlam has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Whitlam lands with a nice combination. Diaz backs away looking to recover.

Diaz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Whitlam on his heels. He'll look to pass Whitlam's guard now, I'm sure.

Whitlam is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diaz defends well.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Diaz wants to control from the top but Whitlam keeps moving.
Diaz is working Whitlam over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Whitlam swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
