PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rory Rampage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Cornish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cornish has chosen Ready For War - 50 Cent (Instrumental) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rory Rampage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeremy Cornish!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cornish throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rampage's waist but Rampage gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cornish off to one side.
Cornish drops his hands momentarily and Rampage takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Rampage lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Rampage moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Rampage throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Rampage drives through and clinches with Cornish against the cage.
Rampage gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cornish.

Rampage manages to pull guard.

Cornish goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rampage is on top in guard.

Rampage throws a strike but Cornish rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Rampage pulls Cornish in to control the position.
Rampage can't keep his opponent in guard - Cornish advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Cornish thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cornish is defended easily by Rampage.

Rampage looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cornish with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jeremy Cornish will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Cornish jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rampage is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rampage and Cornish has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

I would just about give that final round to Jeremy Cornish.
I think Cornish has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
