PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Samir Kahn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gronk Groenhud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Groenhud is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Sometime Lonely by Kelly Chen. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Samir Kahn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Gronk Groenhud!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Andrew Berry and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahn takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A big left from Kahn misses.
Kahn has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kahn there as he acknowledges the shot.
Samir Kahn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kahn shoots in for a double leg but Groenhud sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Groenhud lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Kahn drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Groenhud dives on top into guard.

Groenhud is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Kahn takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Groenhud throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Groenhud throws a nice looking combination but Kahn bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Groenhud swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kahn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kahn shoots in and bounces Groenhud off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Groenhud had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Kahn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Groenhud Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Kahn's back instead.

Kahn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kahn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Groenhud is trying to control Kahn's posture but Kahn avoids it.

Kahn goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Groenhud has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kahn but great work by Groenhud.
