The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Virtanen closes the distance and clinches.
Kowalewski looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Virtanen has hold of one of Kowalewski's legs. Kowalewski is fighting the takedown attempt but Virtanen gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Virtanen gets to his feet. Kowalewski looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Kowalewski slaps away a takedown attempt from Virtanen, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Virtanen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Kowalewski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Virtanen controls the pace.
Virtanen gets to his feet - Kowalewski follows without any prompting.

Kowalewski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Virtanen moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Virtanen turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Virtanen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Virtanen has hold of Kowalewski's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kowalewski tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Virtanen cranks the arm and Kowalewski screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kowalewski, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
