The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn misses the body punch
letting Sven counter with a right hand.
Penn shoots and misses
and Sven counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Mick Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn misses with a takedown
and Sven counters with a stiff right hand.
Sven thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Penn if he has to take too many more of those.
Penn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sven circles away.

Sven drops back looking for a leg! Penn is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Penn manages to kick Sven off! Sven jumps back into Penn's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sven throws a strike but Penn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Penn is stalling in the full guard.
Penn wants to control from the top but Sven keeps moving.
Sven is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Penn is controlling him.

Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sven swivels though and keeps the full guard.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Penn. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Sven stuffs the takedown.

Sven throws a jab but it's blocked by Penn.

Penn gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sven cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Penn is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Penn gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Sven gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
