The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry misses with a left hand

and Mayers counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mayers.
Mayers wants to control from the top but Perry keeps moving.
Perry is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mayers cracks Perry with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mayers is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Perry looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Mayers throwing strikes from guard but Perry blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mayers accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Perry is on top in guard.

Perry is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Mayers with him. Mayers is trying to defend but Perry has an arm under the chin now! Mayers grimaces and is forced to tap out!
