PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Oak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Rosholt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Oak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Rosholt!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oak throws a right hand that Rosholt ducks under and follows up with a left that Rosholt also avoids with ease.

Oak looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rosholt working a defensive guard here.
Oak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rosholt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rosholt can do anything to dispel that myth.
Rosholt avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Oak drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Oak jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Oak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Oak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rosholt manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Oak has Rosholt in his guard.

Oak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rosholt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rosholt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Oak pushes Rosholt off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Rosholt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rosholt.
Oak is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rosholt is controlling him.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rosholt will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Oak connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Oak tries to clinch up but Rosholt circles away and keeps his distance.
Rosholt will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rosholt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jake Rosholt was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Rosholt shoots in looking for a takedown but Oak manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rosholt's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rosholt takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rosholt drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Oak connects with a knee to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Oak landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Oak tries a knee to the head but Rosholt blocks it.
Oak crunches a lovely knee into Rosholt's ribcage.

Oak throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rosholt blocks it with crossed arms.
Oak lands a left hand that snaps the head of Rosholt backwards.
Oak with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Oak tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Some bone on bone action there as Oak checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Rosholt fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Oak to the ground. Rosholt is now in Oak's guard.

Oak is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Rosholt is controlling him well.
Rosholt lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oak dives in and grabs Rosholt's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rosholt pushes down on Oak's head and hops out.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Rosholt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Oak napping and manages to drive through into side control!
