Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Whitepride Velasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Steve McGarrett!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Velasquez pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
McGarrett avoids the body shot from Velasquez.

McGarrett closes the distance and clinches.

McGarrett turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and McGarrett manages to end up in side control.
Velasquez taking punishment in the form of punches.
Velasquez regains half guard, as McGarrett was trying to land strikes.
Velasquez blocking the ground and pound attempt from McGarrett.

McGarrett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McGarrett wants to take a breather but Velasquez is having none of it.
Velasquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

McGarrett missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Velasquez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McGarrett scores with a couple of nice shots.
McGarrett not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Velasquez has hold of McGarrett's hands but McGarrett slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

McGarrett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

McGarrett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
McGarrett missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McGarrett lands a nice short elbow.
McGarrett working Velasquez over with strikes.
Velasquez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
McGarrett passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Velasquez!

McGarrett swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Velasquez is now in McGarrett's guard. A big mistake from McGarrett there, giving up the dominant position!

Velasquez advances to half guard.
McGarrett desperately trying to maintain half guard.

McGarrett manages to escape and get back to his feet!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McGarrett looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Velasquez!
Velasquez regains half guard.
McGarrett wants to pass the guard but Velasquez is defending well.
Velasquez is trying to defend against the ground and pound but McGarrett scores with a couple of nice shots.
McGarrett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Velasquez keeps working.
McGarrett not landing any meaningful shots this time.
McGarrett winds up and cracks Velasquez with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve McGarrett dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Velasquez throws a lazy right hand but McGarrett sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Velasquez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McGarrett throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Velasquez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGarrett trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

McGarrett stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Velasquez has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! McGarrett manages to get his head free but now Velasquez has transitioned to an armbar! McGarrett grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Velasquez! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Whitepride Velasquez!
