PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Anton Egorov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Dubonet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dubonet's choice of entrance music: Kevin Chalfant - Hold on to the vision in your eyes. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Egorov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francois Dubonet!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dubonet throws a sloppy head kick
letting Egorov counter with a right hand.
Dubonet tries to land a body kick

and Egorov counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Egorov looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Egorov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dubonet doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Egorov.
Dubonet is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Egorov is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dubonet is just riding it out for now. Egorov eventually gives up the hold.
Dubonet pushes Egorov off looking to stand but Egorov dives back in and keeps control.
Dubonet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Egorov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Egorov is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dubonet has managed to free his arm - good work.
Egorov trying to advance position but Dubonet counters by regaining guard.
Egorov slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Dubonet is trying to keep Egorov in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Egorov stands and throws Dubonet's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Dubonet tries to escape but Egorov is in control.
Dubonet stops Egorov from passing to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Egorov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Dubonet is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
You can see the frustration on Dubonet's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Egorov working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dubonet is trying to improve his position.
Dubonet pushes Egorov away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Egorov gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Egorov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Egorov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Egorov swings around for an armbar but Dubonet sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Egorov's guard.
Dubonet is looking to stand up but Egorov won't let him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dubonet wants to stand but Egorov is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dubonet throws and elbow that misses. Egorov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dubonet's guard. Nice move by Egorov!

Egorov tries to free his leg and advance position but Dubonet is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anton Egorov dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Egorov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Dubonet throws a head kick but Egorov moves out of range.

and Egorov counters with a takedown into side control.
Dubonet tries to improve position but can't.

Egorov throws an elbow but Dubonet slips to the side and avoids it well.
Dubonet is trying to control Egorov's posture but Egorov avoids it.
Dubonet is trying to improve his position.
Egorov wants to control but Dubonet is keeping him busy.

Egorov tries for a kimura but Dubonet is defending well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Egorov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Dubonet is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Dubonet is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Egorov off and has taken his back!
Dubonet is throwing shots to the body but Egorov manages to wriggle free. Dubonet pounces on him again and ends up in Egorov's guard.

Dubonet wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Egorov's closed guard. He's half up but Egorov has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Egorov pivots and extends the arm, Dubonet falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Egorov! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Anton Egorov!
