PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Donald Duck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masayoshi Tanimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donald Duck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Masayoshi Tanimura!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duck shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Tanimura looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Duck is keen to just control but Tanimura is a slippery customer.
Duck with the ground and pound but Tanimura uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Duck drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tanimura dives on top into guard.
Tanimura wants to control from the top but Duck keeps moving.
Duck is pulling down on Tanimura's head to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Duck keeping moving, preventing Tanimura from controlling successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Masayoshi Tanimura hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Duck scores with a takedown into Tanimura's guard.

Duck trying to control but Tanimura is working from the bottom.
Duck is really struggling to control Tanimura but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Duck is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tanimura is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tanimura has escaped and now he's on top!
Duck is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tanimura trying to control the position from guard on top but Duck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Duck counters with a single leg into guard. Tanimura didn't expect that.
Duck passes Tanimura's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Duck not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Duck is working for a kimura but Tanimura is defending it quite comfortably.
Tanimura is not content to let Duck control the position.
Tanimura is trying to stand back up but Duck is controlling him

Duck is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donald Duck dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Duck drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tanimura manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Duck has Tanimura in his guard.
Tanimura advances to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Tanimura is keen to just control but Duck is a slippery customer.
Duck is doing well to control the position and prevent Tanimura from advancing to side control.
Tanimura trying to pass the guard but Duck defending well.
Tanimura throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Duck is trying is best to control the position here.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tanimura is looking for a kimura but Duck is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tanimura to get the leverage.

Tanimura is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Duck has managed to free his arm - good work.
Tanimura is keen to just control but Duck is a slippery customer.
Tanimura is just content to waste time from the top position. Duck takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Tanimura trying to control but Duck is working from the bottom.

Duck is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Duck seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Masayoshi Tanimura.
Tanimura shoots and misses

and Duck counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tanimura tries to roll over but Duck keeps him under control.

Duck looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Duck seems to be working for a kimura but Tanimura defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Donald Duck dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Duck with a poor takedown

and Tanimura counters with a takedown into side control.
Duck can't do much from the bottom here.

Tanimura is trying to get an arm triangle but Duck is defending well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Tanimura goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Duck rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tanimura's guard! Nice work there by Duck!

Duck is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Duck wants to control from the top but Tanimura keeps moving.

Tanimura is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Duck is controlling him.
Duck trying to control the position from guard on top but Tanimura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tanimura controls Duck momentarily but Duck frees himself.
Duck wants to pass the guard but Tanimura is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Donald Duck wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Duck postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tanimura is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duck, into his guard.
Tanimura wants to pass the guard but Duck is keeping the position.
Duck can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tanimura controls the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Tanimura looking to pass the guard.
Duck seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Tanimura wants to control from the top but Duck keeps moving.

And that's the end of the fight!
Masayoshi Tanimura comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Duck has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
