PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Khyen Heimdall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francis Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Francis Jordan will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Francis Jordan!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jordan tries to clinch there but Heimdall circles away.
Jordan tries to close the distance and clinch but Heimdall swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Jordan moves into the clinch.

Jordan's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Francis Jordan.

Jordan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Heimdall swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jordan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Heimdall swats away the attempt to clinch by Jordan.

Jordan has taken the fight to the clinch.
Heimdall throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Heimdall wants to break the clinch but can't.
Jordan lands an elbow inside that Heimdall shrugs off.

Jordan will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Heimdall up against the cage.

A close second round but Francis Jordan will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Jordan is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Heimdall jumps into side control!

Jordan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Heimdall's best efforts.
Heimdall perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Jordan wants to control but Heimdall is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jordan is looking for a sweep. Heimdall is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jordan is trying to control but Heimdall manages to pass to mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jordan tries to lock up and control but Heimdall gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jordan is trying desperately to improve position.

Heimdall sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jordan is looking to improve his position but Heimdall isn't that keen on the idea.

Jordan really wants to buck Heimdall off and get back to his feet.
Heimdall tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Khyen Heimdall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jordan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Jordan tries to hold on but Heimdall postures up.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Heimdall seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Jordan for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that's the end of the fight!
Khyen Heimdall showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Jordan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
