PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abdul Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Abdul Ali!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali darts in trying to clinch

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Ali is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ali is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ali paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Jones shoots in for a takedown but Ali shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jones catches Ali with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ali's guard.

Jones drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ali looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ali looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ali!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ali accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones has Ali pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ali manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Ali lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Jones or not.

Abdul Ali has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jones is trying to drag Ali to the mat but Ali just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

And that's the end of the fight!
Abdul Ali comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
