Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Wandy Wandeco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wandeco might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Sandstorm. Daniel Cook struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wandeco shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wandeco was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Cook can't escape the position.
Cook tries to hold on but Wandeco pushes him away.
Wandeco wants to control the pace but Cook is squirming around nicely.
Cook slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wandeco tries to stand and escape but Cook is controlling the position.
Cook tries to get to full guard but Wandeco has control of the leg.
Wandeco knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cook on the ground.

Wandeco is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Cook still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Cook has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
Cook wants to control but Wandeco is keeping him busy.

Wandeco manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Wandeco has hold of Cook's hands but Cook slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Wandeco is not content to let Cook control the position.
Wandeco is trying is best to control the position here.
Cook is controlling the pace.
Cook missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Cook is stalling here. Wandeco is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Cook seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Wandeco has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Cook tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wandeco wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Cook's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wandeco is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Cook will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Wandeco decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cook to his feet.
Wandeco doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Cook counters with a shoot takedown. Wandeco fights it but they end up in guard.

Cook won't allow Wandeco to sweep him here.
Cook slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Daniel Cook wasn't active enough on the ground.
Wandeco shoots in for a double leg but Cook sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Daniel Cook will probably get the nod.

so Cook counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Cook postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Daniel Cook hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Cook decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wandeco's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Cook bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Wandeco doesn't succeed with the takedown

Wandeco lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cook!
Wandeco takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cook is working to get back to half guard.
Cook takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Cook is bucking up trying to escape but Wandeco cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Cook tries to hold on but Wandeco postures up.
Wandeco prevents Cook from getting the reversal.

Wandeco lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Wandeco looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Cook is trying desperately to improve position.

Wandeco can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cook is looking to escape.
Wandeco pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wandeco goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cook turns into him and now he's in Wandeco's guard.

Wandeco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cook gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Cook is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wandy Wandeco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Daniel Cook is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
