Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kareem al Rashid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Garelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garelli has chosen Patriarch on a Vespa as his entrance music. Joe Garelli has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Kareem al Rashid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Garelli!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garelli circles away from the clinch attempt
and Garelli counters with a nice uppercut.
al Rashid tries to clinch up

and Garelli decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in al Rashid's guard.
Garelli throwing strikes from guard but al Rashid blocks nicely.
Garelli works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Garelli thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
al Rashid is looking to control Garelli's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can al Rashid avoid being mounted?
Garelli is stalling here. al Rashid is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Garelli seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and al Rashid has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

al Rashid wants to stand but Garelli has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
al Rashid wants to stand but Garelli is controlling his posture from full guard.
al Rashid wants to pass the guard but Garelli is keeping the position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Garelli wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Garelli is controlling al Rashid's posture.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
al Rashid moves to clinch but Garelli breaks away

and Garelli counters with a shoot takedown. al Rashid fights it but they end up in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Garelli slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
al Rashid wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Garelli manages to pass to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garelli wants to take a breather but al Rashid is having none of it.
al Rashid wants to control but Garelli is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Garelli prevents al Rashid from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
al Rashid regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Garelli.
Garelli trying to control but al Rashid is working from the bottom.
Garelli throws a strike but al Rashid rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and al Rashid takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
al Rashid looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
al Rashid misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Garelli makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
al Rashid buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
al Rashid closes the distance looking to clinch

and Garelli counters with a shoot takedown. al Rashid fights it but they end up in guard.
Garelli pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. al Rashid is keeping the position for now.
al Rashid is trying to control the position from the bottom.
al Rashid is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
al Rashid keeping moving, preventing Garelli from controlling successfully.

Garelli throwing strikes but missing.
Garelli trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
al Rashid lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Garelli!
Garelli stops al Rashid from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
al Rashid prevents Garelli from getting the reversal.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
al Rashid controlling the position easily from mount.
Garelli is wriggling around trying to escape.
al Rashid trying to control but he's not successful this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
al Rashid tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
al Rashid sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
al Rashid tries to control but Garelli wriggling away.

al Rashid goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Garelli turns into him and now he's in al Rashid's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Garelli trying to control but al Rashid is working from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Kareem al Rashid wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
al Rashid throws a leg kick but Garelli sees it coming and checks it nicely.
al Rashid lands a leg kick that knocks Garelli off balance momentarily.

Garelli closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Garelli lands in his opponent's guard.
Garelli postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Garelli showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Garelli counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
al Rashid avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Garelli.
al Rashid won't allow Garelli to pass to mount.
al Rashid trying to control from the bottom.
Garelli wants to control but al Rashid is keeping him busy.
al Rashid moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
al Rashid wants to sweep but no luck.
Garelli missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
al Rashid is trying to keep Garelli in close.

Garelli in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Garelli postures up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
al Rashid bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Garelli's guard.
Garelli not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
al Rashid wants to stand but Garelli has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Garelli has control of al Rashid's left arm, preventing al Rashid from doing any damage.
Joe Garelli is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Garelli defending well as al Rashid loads up on a big left hand.
Kareem al Rashid is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Garelli has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from al Rashid.
al Rashid looks to clinch

and Garelli counters with a takedown into side control.
Garelli is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Joe Garelli has got the better of the ground game so far.
al Rashid is trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
al Rashid struggling a bit here.
Garelli in side control, just content to control the action for now.
al Rashid manages to get back to half guard.
al Rashid is trying to get back to full guard.
Kareem al Rashid has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
al Rashid is trying to stand back up but Garelli is controlling him

The ref stands the fighters back up. Joe Garelli was stalling too much, according to the referee.
al Rashid is looking to clinch but Garelli is avoiding it.
al Rashid staying out of range there.
Kareem al Rashid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Garelli counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for al Rashid!
Garelli looking to control and managing it successfully.

Joe Garelli comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Garelli winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
