PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josepe Poutine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Legus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Josepe Poutine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andrew Legus!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poutine will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Poutine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Poutine tries to score a power double leg takedown but Legus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Poutine somewhat.
Poutine moves forwards but Legus connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Legus keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josepe Poutine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Legus stuffs the takedown attempt from Poutine. Poutine gets slowly back to his feet.
Legus misses with the combination.
Legus shoots in looking for a takedown. Poutine tries to sprawl out of it but Legus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Poutine manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Legus fails in his attempt to clinch.

Poutine closes the distance and clinches up with Legus, looking for a takedown. Poutine pushes Legus against the cage but Legus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Poutine swats away the attempt to clinch by Legus.

Legus has taken the fight to the clinch.
Poutine blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Legus looking to throw knees to the head but Poutine is blocking nicely.
Legus with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Legus using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Poutine has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Legus stalling the fight.
Legus with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Josepe Poutine has been cut.

Legus escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Legus clinches up against the cage.

Legus manages to break the clinch.
Poutine shoots in looking for a takedown but Legus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Poutine's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Legus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Legus looking to sit in guard and control but Poutine gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Legus is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Poutine is controlling him.

Legus throws his legs up looking for a submission but Poutine uses it to pass to side control.
Legus takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Poutine in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Legus is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Legus tries to escape but Poutine is in control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Poutine tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Legus tries to improve position but can't.
The strikes coming from Poutine are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Legus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Poutine. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Poutine works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Legus is looking for a sweep.
Poutine lands a decent elbow from side control.
Legus wants to get back to his feet.
Legus parries the strikes from Poutine easily there. Poutine is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Legus to escape.
The strikes coming from Poutine are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Legus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Poutine working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Poutine working the ground and pound but Legus is defending the strikes.
Poutine slows the pace down.
Poutine is looking to take a break and control but Legus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Legus sneaks back into half guard.
Legus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Poutine is working away from the top position though.
Poutine wants to lay and pray for a moment but Legus keeps working.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Poutine stalling.
Poutine stalling away here and it's allowed Legus to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Andrew Legus will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Josepe Poutine's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Legus stuffs the takedown.
Poutine tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Legus swivels and escapes.
Poutine shoots for a double leg takedown but Legus sprawls well. He's pushed Poutine's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Josepe Poutine. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Legus tries to clinch up.
Poutine keeps the fight on the outside.

Legus has taken the fight to the clinch.
Poutine is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Legus gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Legus breaks from the clinch.

Legus darts in and clinches Poutine up against the cage.
Poutine has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Poutine takes a knee right on the jaw!
Legus misses with a knee to the head.
Legus throws a knee to the head but misses.

Legus escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Josepe Poutine is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Poutine drives through with a takedown into guard.
Josepe Poutine overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Poutine won't allow Legus to get back to his feet.
Legus is trying to keep Poutine in close.
Poutine trying to control but Legus is working from the bottom.
Poutine looking to pass the guard.
Poutine stopping the sweep attempt from Legus.
Legus is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Legus wants to pass the guard but Poutine is defending well.

Legus throwing shots but Poutine is blocking nicely.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Legus connects with a nice short shot to Poutine's temple.
Legus missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Legus has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Poutine works to full guard.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Legus. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Legus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Poutine manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Legus has Poutine in his guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Legus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Poutine is fighting to break Legus's control of his arms but Legus is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Poutine advances to half guard.
Legus is looking to control Poutine's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Legus avoid being mounted?
Poutine is trying to control the action in half guard but Legus is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Ground and pound from Poutine.
Poutine throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Poutine prevents Legus from improving his position.
Poutine works his way into full mount!
Poutine pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Legus is trying desperately to improve position.
Poutine fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Legus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Poutine looking to finish Legus with some ground and pound. This is bad for Legus!
Poutine with shots to the head and body - Legus looks very uncomfortable down there.
Poutine lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Legus hang on?
Legus tries to hold on but Poutine pushes him away.
Poutine looking to control and managing it successfully.
Poutine unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Legus wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Poutine celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josepe Poutine!
