PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leon Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cody A Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Souza might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to i am #1. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Souza doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Miller counters by clinching up.
Miller keeps control of Souza as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Miller breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Miller throws a sloppy head kick and Souza moves out of range easily.
Miller lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Souza closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Miller did well to prevent Souza getting side control.

Souza is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Miller has managed to free his arm - good work.

Miller is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Souza pulls his head out easily.
Souza is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Souza is breathing heavily.

Souza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miller is just riding it out for now. Souza eventually gives up the hold.

Souza seems to be working for a kimura but Miller defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Souza wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position.
Souza trying to control the position from guard on top but Miller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Miller looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Souza is pushing down on Miller's leg trying to pass to half guard. Miller is fighting to maintain full guard but Souza has managed to sneak the leg through.
Souza drops an elbow to the side of Miller's head.

Souza is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Souza throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Miller is refusing to be controlled, as Souza sits in half guard.
Souza prevents Miller from improving his position.
Miller wants to control but Souza is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Souza in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Miller tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Souza!
