Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Clay has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Harvey!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvey tries to move into range but Clay moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Clay closes the distance and pushes Harvey back into the cage.
Clay just leaning against Harvey, taking a breather.

Clay pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Clay moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Jon Harvey has been cut.

Clay has closed the distance and engaged Harvey in a clinch.

Clay wants the takedown. Harvey is fighting it off but Clay persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Harvey's guard against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Harvey pushes Clay off and scrambles back to his feet.
Harvey takes a jab right on the kisser.
Harvey doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Clay counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Clay controls from within his opponent's guard.
Harvey striking off his back but it's not causing Clay any problems.
Clay trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Harvey looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Harvey looking for a guillotine here but Clay defends easily.
Clay wants to pass the guard but Harvey is keeping the position.

Clay drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Harvey manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Clay has Harvey in his guard.
Harvey is fighting to break Clay's control of his arms but Clay is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Harvey pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Clay is keeping the position for now.
Clay is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Clay keeping moving, preventing Harvey from controlling successfully.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Harvey trying to stand up but can't free himself from Clay's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Harvey gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Clay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Harvey looks gassed!
Clay throws a head kick that misses.

Clay clinches.

Clay has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Harvey uses from the top position.
Harvey prevents Clay from getting back to his feet.

Clay is controlling Harvey's posture.
Harvey trying to control the position from guard on top but Clay is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Harvey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clay swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harvey trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Clay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harvey on the ground.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Clay is pulling down on Harvey's head. It's preventing any offense from Harvey, at least for the moment.

Clay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Harvey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Harvey looking for a sweep. Not yet Harvey, not yet.
Clay wants to control from the top but Harvey keeps moving.
Harvey throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Harvey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Harvey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Clay's guard.

Harvey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Clay holds on and takes a little breather.

Clay has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Harvey off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

and Clay counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Clay shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Harvey is trying to defend but Clay finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Clay is thwarting Harvey's attempts to control the position.
Harvey is not content to let Clay control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clay content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Jake Clay wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Clay darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Clay works his way into full mount!
Clay lands a heavy elbow.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Clay connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The referee warns Harvey that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Clay with the ground and pound from mount.

Clay has hold of Harvey's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Harvey manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Clay with a couple of short strikes.

Clay looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Harvey is trying desperately to improve position.
Clay trying to control but he's not successful this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Clay looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Clay dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Jon Harvey's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Harvey misses with a takedown attempt

and Clay counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Harvey!

Harvey wants to hold on but Clay pushes him away.
Harvey is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Clay is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Harvey is surviving well by controlling Clay's body position as best he can.

Clay looking to secure an arm triangle but Harvey defends it well.
Harvey tries to hold on but Clay postures up.

Clay is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Harvey to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Harvey shrugs it off.

Clay is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Clay lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Harvey circles away quickly and effectively.

Harvey moves to clinch but Clay breaks away

and Clay counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Harvey wants to get back to full guard.
Clay passes the guard and advances to mount!
Clay with a couple of short strikes.
Clay fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Clay lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Clay trying to control but Harvey is having none of it.

Clay moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Harvey has worked his arm free - good work by Harvey!

Jake Clay is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Clay working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Harvey tries to buck Clay off but Clay is having none of it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Harvey takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Clay scores with a couple of short elbows.

Clay wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Harvey, who protects the arm well.

Jon Harvey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Clay controls the position from side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Clay showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Clay has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
