Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Ryan Edward!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Backman throws an off balance right hand
and Edward makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Edward feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Backmans jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Backman misses with a right hand
and Edward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A head kick by Backman misses
and Edward counters with a stiff right hand.
Backman misses with a right hand
and Backman takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Edward throws a leg kick but Backman sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Backman swings widly with a right hand
and Edward counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Edward lands a nice leg kick that just misses Backman's sensitive parts.
Edward throws the left hand but Backman avoids the punch easily.
Backman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Edward connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Backman throws a left and a right that both miss
and Edward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Backman doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Edward on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
It looks like Ryan Edward has been cut.
Backman swings widly with a right hand
and Edward counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Backman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Edward counters with a leg kick.
Backman lands with a straight right. Edward didn't see that one coming.
Backman throws a sloppy head kick
and Edward counters with a slapping leg kick.
Backman throws an off balance right hand
and Edward counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Backman walks into a stiff left hand from Edward.
It looks like Ben Backman has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Backman's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Edward connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Backman scrambles back to his feet.
Backman avoids the body shot from Edward.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Edward fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Backman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Edward is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Backman had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Backman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Edward counters with an inside leg kick.
Backman throws a poor cross that misses
and Edward counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Backman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Edward slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Backman is rocked!
An inside leg kick lands from Edward.
Backman is breathing heavily.
Edward has managed to clinch.
Edward gets through Backman's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Oh Backman is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Edward creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Backman's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Backman drops to his knees and Edward pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ryan Edward! Ryan Edward retains his light heavyweight title!
