And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Williams!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams connects with a body shot.
Williams jabs Staton to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Williams thows a body shot but no joy.
Some wild striking there from Williams.
Williams misses with a double jab

and Staton counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Williams tries to get to full guard but Staton has control of the leg.
Williams is looking to control Staton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted?

Williams is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Staton is staying active.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Williams is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Staton wants to control but Williams is keeping him busy.

Staton doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.

Staton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Staton thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Williams's head.
Staton is trying to control the action in half guard but Williams is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Staton counters with a stiff right hand.
Staton closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Williams throws an off balance right hand
and Staton counters with a thumping low kick.
Staton fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Williams looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Williams misses the shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lee Staton dominated that second round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Staton shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Williams napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Williams takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Williams tries to buck Staton off but Staton is having none of it.

Staton is looking to take a break and control but Williams is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lee Staton is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams tries to buck Staton off but Staton is having none of it.

Williams is staying active underneath Staton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lee Staton just wasn't active enough.

The referee asks Staton politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Staton prefers to stall for the moment though.
Williams is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Staton trying to control the action but Williams is working from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Lee Staton showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Staton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
