Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Merv Bungay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samoa Joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merv Bungay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Samoa Joe!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joe misses with a takedown
and Bungay counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Bungay counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Bungay rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Joe moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bungay lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Bungay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bungay's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Bungay duly obliges.
Joe has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bungay finds it's way round the side to connect with Joe's head.
Bungay looks to land a combination. Joe sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Joe decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bungay's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Joe wants to pass the guard but Bungay is keeping the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bungay holds on and takes a little breather.
Joe won't allow Bungay to get back to his feet.
Joe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
