PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ville Galle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akahito Fuchida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fuchida has chosen The Yellow Monkey - Rainbow Man as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ville Galle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akahito Fuchida!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Galle scores with a takedown into Fuchida's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fuchida is working an open guard so Galle takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Fuchida tries to free his leg and advance position but Galle is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Galle shoots in and bounces Fuchida off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Fuchida thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Galle decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fuchida, up you get!

Galle closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Fuchida's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Akahito Fuchida hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Galle counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Galle is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Fuchida is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Galle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fuchida on the ground.

Galle drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Fuchida manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Galle has Fuchida in his guard.
Galle has a closed guard, preventing Fuchida from standing up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Galle shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Galle showed some decent athleticism there.

Fuchida throws his legs up looking for a submission but Galle uses it to pass to side control.

Galle decides to stand back up. Galle steps back and let's Fuchida get back to his feet.

Fuchida closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fuchida lands in his opponent's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fuchida tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fuchida wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Galle is now in half guard.
Galle is thwarting Fuchida's attempts to control the position.
Fuchida moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Fuchida controls Galle momentarily but Galle frees himself.
Galle wants to control from the top but Fuchida keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Fuchida looking for a sweep. Not yet Fuchida, not yet.
Galle wants to control from the top but Fuchida keeps moving.
Galle has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Ville Galle has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Fuchida enables Galle to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fuchida manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fuchida is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Galle wants to stand and escape but instead Fuchida has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Galle pulls Fuchida in close to prevent any damage.

Fuchida wanted to stand there but Galle had control of the position.
Galle is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Fuchida wants to control but Galle is keeping busy.
Galle seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Fuchida does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Fuchida has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Galle is working away from the top position though.
Galle is pressing down on Fuchida's thigh, looking to free his foot. Fuchida is holding on for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fuchida wants to improve his position but Galle is controlling well.

Galle seems to be working for a kimura but Fuchida defends the submission attempt.

Galle turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Galle manages to end up in side control.

Galle is taking a breather. Fuchida says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ville Galle is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ville Galle overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
