The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dez tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dez wants to control but Hawk is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Dez actively working from the bottom here.
Hawk not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hawk is pressing down on Dez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Dez is holding on for now.
Dez gets full guard.
Hawk wants to control from the top but Dez keeps moving.

and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dez won't be happy with that.

Dez wants to control but Hawk is keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hawk throwing strikes from guard but Dez blocks nicely.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dez manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Hawk trying desperately to get to his feet.
Hawk looks gassed!
Hawk is in all sorts of trouble here.
Dez throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Dez has hold of Hawk's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hawk manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Hawk wants to try and get back to his feet.
Dez is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Dez extends the arm and Hawk is forced to tap!
