Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Benevidi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Pete Palahnuik!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benevidi throws a left and a right that both miss
and Palahnuik counters with a straight right hand.
Palahnuik uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Benevidi.
Benevidi rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Palahnuik counters with a two punch combo.
Jake Benevidi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benevidi throws a series of strikes that have Palahnuik backpedaling.
Palahnuik buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
No luck for Palahnuik with that takedown attempt.

and Palahnuik counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Benevidi's guard now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Benevidi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Palahnuik moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Palahnuik shoots in and bounces Benevidi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Palahnuik is looking to work some ground and pound but Benevidi has wrist control.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Pete Palahnuik hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Benevidi's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Palahnuik connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Benevidi scrambles back to his feet.
Palahnuik turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Pete Palahnuik is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well Palahnuik has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
