Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quinton Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Franklyn Vass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is LiL Wayne . Quinton Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklyn Vass!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vass drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Jackson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Vass is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Vass is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jackson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jackson tries to improve position but can't.
Vass trying to control the position but Jackson is working away.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Vass tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jackson's legs.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vass lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jackson down.

The referee asks Vass politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Vass prefers to stall for the moment though.
Vass is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Vass stands up and beckons Jackson to his feet.

Vass fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Vass persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Vass winds up and cracks Jackson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Vass looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Vass trying to control from half guard but Jackson is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Vass closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jackson's guard.
Vass seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Vass cracks Jackson with a solid left hand.
Vass stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vass would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Vass connects with a couple of short punches.
Vass seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Vass wants to get up but he can't break Jackson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vass sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Vass wants to stand but Jackson is controlling his posture from full guard.

Vass decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Jackson tries to sprawl but Vass drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Vass slows the pace down in half guard.

Vass stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Jackson to get to his feet.

Vass might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Jackson has momentary wrist control but Vass slips an elbow through the middle.

Vass looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jackson!
Vass wants to control the pace but Jackson is squirming around nicely.
Franklyn Vass has got the better of the ground game so far.
Vass takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Vass really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jackson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Vass can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jackson is bucking up trying to escape but Vass cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Vass's attempts to control the action.
Vass connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Vass trying to control but Jackson is having none of it.

Vass has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well Vass has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
