The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Creed misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Creed looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Butten isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Creed stacks Butten on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Creed!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Butten is desperately trying to improve his position but Creed has a good base and remains in mount.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Apollo Creed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Creed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Butten tries to avoid it but Creed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Butten to the ground. Butten escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ras Butten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Apollo Creed.

Butten feints and as Creed raises his hands in defense, Butten changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Creed has one foot on Butten's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Butten goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Creed has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Butten but great work by Creed.

Creed looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Butten with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Butten is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Butten had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Creed is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Butten Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Creed's back instead.
