Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fiat Punto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robin Van Persie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Fiat Punto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Robin Van Persie! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Punto throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Van Persie was covering up waiting for the punch and Punto finishes the takedown easily into guard. Van Persie looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Van Persie keeping moving, preventing Punto from controlling successfully. Punto throws a big right hand that misses. Punto with a flurry of punches that miss. Punto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Van Persie is keeping the position for now. Punto wants to stand but Van Persie has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Punto engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Van Persie keeping full guard, as Punto tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Persie keeping moving, preventing Punto from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fiat Punto. Punto connects with a high kick. Punto wants to clinch and Van Persie counters with a nice double leg into side control. Punto won't be happy with that. Van Persie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Punto is trying to control Van Persie's posture but Van Persie avoids it. Punto manages to work his way to half guard, despite Van Persie's best efforts. Van Persie is thwarting Punto's attempts to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Punto manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Punto controls Van Persie momentarily but Van Persie frees himself. Punto wants to sweep here but Van Persie controlling him for the moment. Punto throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Van Persie is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Punto trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Persie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Punto stopping the sweep attempt from Van Persie. Van Persie really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Punto. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Punto gets to his feet - Van Persie follows without any prompting. Robin Van Persie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Punto misses with a jab, cross combination.
Punto looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Van Persie is fending him off so far but Punto persists. Nope, Van Persie circles away and we're back to standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Sloppy strikes from Punto. Those never looked like landing. Punto throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Punto tries to clinch but Van Persie is having none of it. Punto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Persie but Van Persie pushes him off and we're back to square one. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Van Persie - that will leave a mark!
Punto misses with a two punch combination.
Van Persie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Punto. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Fiat Punto dominated that round. The cut man is working on Robin Van Persie's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Van Persie throws a head kick that misses and Punto counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Punto. Punto trying to control the position but instead, Van Persie has worked for underhooks and has pushed Punto into the cage. Van Persie on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Punto swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Punto ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Punto no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Punto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Van Persie gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Punto is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Punto looking to hit a scissor sweep but Van Persie is one step ahead there.

Van Persie is squirming around, avoiding Punto's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Van Persie is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Van Persie wants to control but Punto is having none of it. Punto tries to control but Van Persie wriggling away. Punto lands a heavy elbow. Punto looking to control and managing it successfully. Van Persie is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Punto controlling the position easily from mount. Punto wants to control the pace but Van Persie is squirming around nicely. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Van Persie tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Punto is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Van Persie to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Van Persie shrugs it off. Van Persie throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Van Persie tries to get back to half guard but can't. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Van Persie can do anything to dispel that myth. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Punto is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Van Persie is forced to tap! Great finish!
