Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Edwin Valdez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hofniel Apollyon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hofniel Apollyon struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Hofniel Apollyon will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Edwin Valdez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hofniel Apollyon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valdez shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Valdez perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Valdez is working for a kimura but Apollyon is defending it quite comfortably.
Valdez is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Valdez working over Apollyon with some ground and pound. Apollyon looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Valdez performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Valdez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Valdez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Valdez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Apollyon's head.
Apollyon wants to get back to his feet.
Valdez keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Edwin Valdez wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Apollyon throws a leg kick but Valdez sees it coming and moves out of range.

Valdez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Valdez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Valdez content just to control the position here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Valdez working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Apollyon turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Valdez off and cradles Apollyon's limp body as Valdez celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Edwin Valdez!
