Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Summers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Scully (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kurt Summers!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Derek Scully!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scully misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Summers counters with a low kick, right behind Scully 's knee.
Donk. Summers catches Scully right on the button with a cross.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Scully darts in trying to clinch
and Summers counters with a left to the body.
Scully with a poor takedown
and Summers counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Summers with a body punch. A glancing blow.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Scully shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Summers counters with a stiff right hand.
Scully tries for a takedown but Summers circles away easily
and Summers makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Kurt Summers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Scully.
Summers goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Scully looks to clinch
enabling Summers to counter with a crisp jab.
Summers moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Summers jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Summers cracks Scully with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Summers counters with a series of strikes. Scully will be more careful next time no doubt.
Summers bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Scully's head backwards.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Summers counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Scully blocks a jab.
Summers looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Scully is trying desperately to land a takedown but Summers is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Scully.
Scully darts in trying to clinch
and Summers counters with a good, hard body kick but Scully shrugs it off.
Scully doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Summers counters with a solid body kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Summers fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Scully.
Summers scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Summers fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Scully has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Scully gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Summers makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Summers plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scully gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Summers counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Derek Scully seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Summers works over Scully's head and body with a nice combination.


Scully is rocked!
Kurt Summers is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Summers fakes the leg kick and cracks Scully in the body.
Crunch! Summers slams his shin into Scully's torso.
A solid leg kick lands there for Summers.
No joy there for Summers, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Summers cracks a nice hook into Scully's ribs.
Summers uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Summers throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Scully misses the body punch
and Summers counters with a leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Summers lands with a thumping leg kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scully throws a left and a right that both miss
and Summers counters with a low kick, right behind Scully 's knee.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Summers scoring well with a low kick there.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Scully might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Summers has got the better of the exchanges.

and Summers makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Scully jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Summers is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Summers and Scully has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Summers on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Summers tries to get out of the position.
Summers parries the strikes from Scully easily there. Scully is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Summers to escape.

Scully tries to advance to mount but Summers denies him.

Scully is trying to get an arm triangle but Summers is defending well.
Scully passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Summers!

Scully looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Scully with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Scully looking for a guillotine from mount but Summers is having none of it.
Scully throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Scully jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Summers manages to avoid the submission attempt.

and Summers counters with a head kick. That will keep Scully thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Scully is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?
Summers rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Scully moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Summers will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Scully drops his hands momentarily and Summers takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Summers connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Scully momentarily.
Scully shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Derek Scully has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
