Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Askren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Rose (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rose has chosen Headstrong - Trapt as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Derek Rose told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rose gets caught napping as Askren dives in and scores a takedown. Rose manages to retain guard.
Askren throwing strikes from guard but Rose blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Askren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Askren controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Askren working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Askren passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Askren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rose keeps working.

Rose really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Askren. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Askren wants to control but Rose is keeping him busy.

Askren throws a strike aimed at the side of Rose's head but Rose avoids it well.
Askren lands a few punches from side control.
Askren working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Askren postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Askren cracks Rose with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Askren wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rose keeps working.
Askren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rose parries the strikes from Askren easily there. Askren is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rose to escape.
