Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Lidell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akbar Muhammed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chuck Lidell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Akbar Muhammed!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lidell doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Muhammed decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lidell's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Muhammed stands up and waves to Lidell to follow him.
Lidell shoots and misses

and Muhammed counters with a shoot takedown. Lidell fights it but they end up in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lidell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Muhammed is one step ahead there.
Muhammed slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Muhammed's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Akbar Muhammed has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Muhammed closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Muhammed passes to side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Muhammed decides to stand back up.
Lidell is looking to clinch.
A punch combination from Lidell misses.

Muhammed gets a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Well, if Muhammed is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Muhammed thows a huge punch but Lidell dodges it nicely.
Muhammed frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Muhammed looking to control and managing it successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Muhammed lands a nice shot to the head.
Muhammed with a couple of short strikes.
Muhammed controlling the pace for now.
Muhammed scoring with strikes but Lidell is staying in there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Muhammed sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Muhammed drives through with a takedown into guard.

Muhammed gets to his feet. Lidell looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Lidell fails with a takedown attempt.
Lidell shoots for a takedown but Muhammed saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Muhammed scores a takedown into full mount!
Lidell tries to lock up and control but Muhammed gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Muhammed with shots to the head and body - Lidell looks very uncomfortable down there.

Muhammed seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Lidell is holding on tight.
Muhammed with a couple of short strikes.

Muhammed looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Muhammed takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Lidell wants to hold on but Muhammed pushes him away.
Lidell is trying to stand up.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Muhammed scoring with strikes but Lidell is staying in there.
Muhammed looking to control and managing it successfully.
Lidell is desperately trying to improve his position but Muhammed has a good base and remains in mount.

Muhammed has control of Lidell's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lidell regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akbar Muhammed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Muhammed scores a takedown into full mount!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Muhammed cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Lidell's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Muhammed looking to finish Lidell with some ground and pound. This is bad for Lidell!

Muhammed jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Lidell is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Lidell and Muhammed has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Muhammed lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lidell down.

Muhammed controls the position from side control.
Lidell tries to escape but Muhammed is in control.
Lidell is letting Muhammed control him for a moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Akbar Muhammed.
Muhammed looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Lidell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Muhammed sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Lidell is looking to clinch.
Muhammed has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Muhammed misses with the combination.
Muhammed swats away the attempt to clinch by Lidell.
Muhammed goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Lidell gets caught napping as Muhammed dives in and scores a takedown. Lidell manages to retain guard.
Muhammed sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lidell's guard.
Muhammed works his way into side control.
Muhammed lands some shots froms side control.

Muhammed swings around for an armbar but Lidell sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Muhammed's guard.
Muhammed has Lidell pulled in close to control his posture.
Lidell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Muhammed scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Muhammed changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lidell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Muhammed is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Muhammed cracks Lidell with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Chuck Lidell has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Muhammed controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akbar Muhammed comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Muhammed has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
