PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Kahui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kahui kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bodies by Drowining Pool. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Kahui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, James Atkins and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thomas tries to clinch up but Kahui circles away and keeps his distance.
Kahui throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thomas takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Kahui tries to keep at a distance but Thomas has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kahui is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Thomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kahui keeps the fight on the outside.

Thomas has closed the distance and engaged Kahui in a clinch.
Thomas creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kahui's defenses.

Thomas manages to break the clinch.
Thomas moves in looking to clinch but Kahui pushes him off.
Kahui pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thomas wants to clinch.

Thomas moves into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Thomas is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Kahui can't fight it off and eventually Thomas manages to take the fight to the floor. Kahui looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Thomas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Thomas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Thomas drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Thomas as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Kahui screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Thomas! Nice submission victory there!
