The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sotto throws a leg kick that is checked

and Mallao counters with a head kick that drops Sotto to the mat! Sotto scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Sotto should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Sotto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sotto.
Sotto tries to land a leg kick but Mallao saw it coming and moves away.

Mallao gets the takedown into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Mallao decides to stand back up. Mallao steps back and let's Sotto get back to his feet.
Roberto Sotto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mallao slips a jab and a cross from Sotto.
Sotto misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mallao counters with a body kick that stops Sotto in his tracks momentarily.

Mallao clinches up with Sotto and pushes him back against the cage.

Mallao closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mallao fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Mallao lands a big shot to the head and Sotto winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
