Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tukka Hirvonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Mortensson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jesse Mortensson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tukka Hirvonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jesse Mortensson!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hirvonen thows a body shot but no joy.
Hirvonen throws a right hand that misses
and Mortensson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Mortensson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hirvonen moves away.
Hirvonen swings away with a body shot that misses
and Mortensson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Nice defenses there by Mortensson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hirvonen falls off balance throwing a combination

and Mortensson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hirvonen!

Mortensson with a couple of short strikes.
Mortensson with shots to the head and body - Hirvonen looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mortensson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mortensson has hold of Hirvonen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Hirvonen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Hirvonen wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Mortensson.
Hirvonen gets back to half guard.

Mortensson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hirvonen keeps working.
Hirvonen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Mortensson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Hirvonen defending well though.
Mortensson is keen to just control but Hirvonen is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hirvonen is trying to stand up here but Mortensson is controlling him well.

Mortensson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mortensson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hirvonen's head.
Mortensson misses with a head shot. Hirvonen uses the momentum to regain guard.

Hirvonen is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mortensson looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mortensson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mortensson wants to control from the top but Hirvonen keeps moving.
Mortensson keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hirvonen's head.
Mortensson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Mortensson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Hirvonen working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mortensson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesse Mortensson dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Hirvonen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mortensson circles away quickly and effectively.
Hirvonen throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Mortensson clinches up with Hirvonen and pushes him back against the cage.
Hirvonen digs a right hand into Mortensson's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mortensson's gas tank.
Mortensson misses with the head strike.

Hirvonen pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hirvonen throws a sloppy body shot

and Mortensson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mortensson slips nicely into half guard.
Mortensson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Mortensson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mortensson winds up and cracks Hirvonen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Mortensson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Mortensson is looking for a kimura but Hirvonen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mortensson to get the leverage.
Mortensson thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Hirvonen to regain full guard.
Hirvonen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mortensson on the ground.
Mortensson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hirvonen's guard.
Mortensson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mortensson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

Mortensson looking to control but Hirvonen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mortensson punching from mount but Hirvonen doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Hirvonen keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Mortensson looking to finish Hirvonen with some ground and pound. This is bad for Hirvonen!
Hirvonen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hirvonen tries to get out of the position.

A nice elbow there by Mortensson.

Hirvonen is bucking up trying to escape but Mortensson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Hirvonen is rocked!
Hirvonen is trying to escape the mount.
Oh Hirvonen is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mortensson landing strikes from the mount.
Mortensson loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Hirvonen scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Mortensson land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Mortensson stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jesse Mortensson!
