Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubz Phatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Sparks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bubz Phatz!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sparks throws a poor cross that misses
and Phatz counters with a leg kick.
Phatz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sparks.
Sparks throws a right hand that Phatz ducks under and follows up with a left that Phatz also avoids with ease.
Phatz connects with a high kick.
Phatz throws a quick inside leg kick.
Bubz Phatz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Phatz lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Phatz misses with a leg kick
and Sparks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fight stays on the outside here - Phatz looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Sparks decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Phatz's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Sparks drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Phatz dives on top into guard.

Sparks escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Phatz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Phatz wants to control from the top but Sparks keeps moving.

Sparks working for a triangle but Phatz defends it easily.
Phatz sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Sparks had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Phatz defends it easily.

Sparks looking for a sweep. Not yet Sparks, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Phatz wants to stand but Sparks has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Phatz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sparks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Phatz passes Sparks's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Phatz prevents Sparks from improving his position.
Sparks is looking to control Phatz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sparks avoid being mounted?

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sparks tries for a takedown but Phatz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A slapping leg kick lands for Phatz.
Some bone on bone action there as Sparks checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Phatz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Phatz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Sparks.

Phatz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
A combination from Sparks does no damage.
Phatz pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Phatz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sparks paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Phatz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sparks on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Sparks throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phatz lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Sparks blocks a leg kick.
Phatz throws a quick inside leg kick.
A bone on bone clash there as Sparks blocks the leg kick.
Phatz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Phatz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sparks moves away.
Sparks listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Bubz Phatz is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Phatz jabs at Sparks's body.
Sparks scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Phatz doesn't seem bothered though.
Sparks takes one on the button.
Phatz fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sparks checks it well.
Phatz tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Sparks is able to avoid easily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bubz Phatz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sparks is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Sparks uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Phatz.
Sparks tries for a takedown but Phatz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Phatz is looking to chop away at Sparks's legs.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Phatz lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Sparks has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Sparks and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Phatz thows a body kick. Sparks tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Phatz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Phatz moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sparks. Phatz does a little dance to reset his feet.

Phatz lands a nice shot that snaps Sparks's head back.
Phatz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sparks.
Sparks throws an off balance right hand
and Phatz counters with a low kick, right behind Sparks 's knee.
Phatz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sparks. That did some damage!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jonathan Sparks.
