James kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is It's Amazing by Kanye West. Alexander James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez tries to clinch but fails miserably
and James counters with a two punch combo.
James connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
James works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Mendez shoots and misses
and Mendez takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Mendez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
James sizes up Mendez with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

James cracks Mendez with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

James throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mendez on the side of the head.

Mendez takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

James cracks Mendez with an open hand slap.
James works over Mendez's head and body with a nice combination.
Mendez's hands are dropping dangerously low here and James connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mendez scrambles back to his feet.
The cut above Rob Mendez's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Mendez closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
James lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
James lands with a shot to the body.
Mendez takes one on the chin but seems OK.
James lands a left and a right that send Mendez crashing to the mat, dazed. James thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mendez is rocked!

Mendez is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
James scores with a one two! Mendez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Rob Mendez's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
James scores with a nice strike.
Mendez seems to have recovered his senses.

Mendez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
James lands a head shot.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rob Mendez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
