PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Phillip Barron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ting Yan Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Barron might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dizzee Rascal - Bonkers. Wang has chosen Minority - Green Day as his entrance music. Ting Yan Wang has the eye of the tiger tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barron bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Barron throws a right hand that misses
and Wang connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Wang slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Barron throws a solid leg kick but Wang takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Barron.
Wang with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Barron keeps the fight on the outside.
Wang throws a push kick but Barron slaps the foot to one side.
The fighters circling - Barron throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A shot to the body from Wang misses
and Barron counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wang thinking.
Wang getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Wang cracks Barron with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Barron is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barron throws a wild body kick that Wang sees coming a mile off.
Wang misses with a body shot
and Barron finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Barron uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Wang.
Wang avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wang tries to close the distance and clinch but Barron swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Wang is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barron.
Barron swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Wang counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Barron loads up on a big right hand but Wang slips the punch.
Wang misses with a body shot.
Wang throws a lazy uppercut
and Barron counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Barron shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wang but Wang pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Barron misses with a right hand
and Wang cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wang scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Barron misses with a body shot
and Wang counters with a thumping low kick.
Barron slips under a jab from Wang.
Wang jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wang moves to clinch but Barron breaks away
and Wang takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wang scores with a decent looking hook.
Ting Yan Wang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A big left from Wang misses.
Wang avoids the head kick by Barron.
Wang throws a lazy head kick
and Barron counters with a stiff right hand.
Wang tries to clinch but Barron moves out of range.
Wang swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wang misses with a body shot
and Barron counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Barron tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wang sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barron somewhat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barron lands with a cross.
Wang clobbers Barron with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Barron ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Wang swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Barron throws a head kick but Wang moves out of range.
Barron takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Wang instigates a clinch.
A nice right hand lands inside from Wang.
Barron lands an uppercut.
Barron tries to stall but Wang uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Wang scores with a hook to the body.
Wang scores with a nice hook to the head.
Barron throws a knee to the head but misses.
Barron is breathing heavily.
A left hand lands to the body for Wang.
The referee is keeping an eye on Wang - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Barron misses with the head strike.
Barron has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wang avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phillip Barron. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Barron is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Wang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Barron takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wang darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Oh Barron is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wang circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Barron to the canvas! Barron doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Wang keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
