PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fu Kyou (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyou comes to the cage accompanied by ICP- Fuck The World. Peterson has chosen Keine Lust as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Fu Kyou has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Fu Kyou seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Fu Kyou!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson misses with a kick to the body.

Peterson tries to land a body kick
and Kyou counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kyou shoots in for a takedown but Peterson shows good takedown defense.

Kyou looks to land a combination but Peterson avoids it well.
Kyou shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Peterson as he jumps to the side.

and Kyou counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Peterson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Kyou throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Peterson's waist but Peterson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kyou off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fu Kyou. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Peterson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kyou.

and Kyou makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Kyou cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Kyou is trying hard to land a takedown here. Peterson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kyou tries to clinch up but Peterson circles away and keeps his distance.
That kick from Peterson tenderised Kyou's leg. Kyou is trying to keep his angry face on.
Kyou is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Peterson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kyou.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Peterson is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kyou is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Fu Kyou wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kyou throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
John Peterson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Peterson misses with a hook to the body
and Kyou counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Peterson thinking.
Good shot there by Kyou.
Peterson on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Nice uppercut there from Kyou.
Peterson connects with a leg kick. Kyou looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Kyou closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Peterson wants to control but Kyou postures up.

Kyou is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Kyou seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Peterson for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Peterson pivots, looking for a leg kick but Kyou is out of range and Peterson settles back down.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Peterson misses with the body kick
and Kyou counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fu Kyou dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

so Kyou counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Peterson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson wants to stand up but Kyou is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kyou tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Peterson was well out of range. Poor timing from Kyou.

Kyou lands a glancing blow to the side of Peterson's head.
Kyou looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Peterson is fending him off so far but Kyou persists. Nope, Peterson circles away and we're back to standing.

Peterson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Peterson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kyou.
Peterson tried to score with a low kick but Kyou checks it.

Kyou shoots in and bounces Peterson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Peterson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kyou looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Fu Kyou.

and Kyou cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Fu Kyou is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kyou looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fu Kyou showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Kyou has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
