Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gsp Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathieu Lemieux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lemieux shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Lemieux showed some decent athleticism there.
Lemieux wants to pass to mount but Silva is defending the position.
Silva trying to control here.
Silva wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lemieux is trying to control. Silva wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mathieu Lemieux was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Silva misses with a few strikes there.

Lemieux fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Silva sprawls well initially but Lemieux persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Lemieux is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Lemieux is working for a kimura but Silva is defending it quite comfortably.
Lemieux really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Silva flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Lemieux slips a nice elbow through Silva's hands, connecting with Silva's forehead.
Silva gets back to full guard.
Silva wants to sweep here but Lemieux controlling him for the moment.
Lemieux would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Lemieux is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!

Silva wants to control from the top but Lemieux keeps moving.

Silva drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lemieux looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lemieux looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lemieux!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Silva throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Lemieux is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Silva's shoulder. That is not cool.
Lemieux trying to control the action but Silva is working from the bottom.
Silva manages to work his way to half guard, despite Lemieux's best efforts.

Silva pushes Lemieux off looking to stand but Lemieux dives back in and keeps control.
Silva is pressing down on Lemieux's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Lemieux looks gassed!
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.
Lemieux wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.
Silva not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lemieux accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Silva manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lemieux manages to get himself to full guard.
Silva is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Silva tries to stand but Lemieux is controlling from the bottom.
Silva stands and throws Lemieux's legs to the side, diving into side control.

A close round but Mathieu Lemieux will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown

The fighters are battling for position here. Silva manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Mathieu Lemieux has got the better of the ground game so far.

Silva lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lemieux!

Oooh a big shot gets through from Silva. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Lemieux turns into Silva and is now in his guard.
Silva lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.

Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lemieux defends it easily.
Silva wants to stand and escape but Lemieux is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lemieux trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lemieux is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Lemieux is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Silva has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Lemieux is looking to defend but Silva has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Lemieux! Silva pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Lemieux taps out and this one is all over!
