PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jobe Nkemakolam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randall Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson has chosen Im a playa as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Randall Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nkemakolam throws a head kick that misses
and Johnson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nkemakolam misses with an uppercut
and Johnson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
A low kick from Nkemakolam is predictable there
and Johnson counters with an outside leg kick.
Nkemakolam with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

enabling Nkemakolam to counter with a crisp jab.

Johnson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Johnson moves out of range of the leg kick from Nkemakolam.
Nkemakolam listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Nkemakolam misses with a left hand
and Johnson counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Nkemakolam lands a jab to Johnson's midsection.
Johnson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nkemakolam sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Johnson somewhat.

Johnson just misses with a punch to the body.

letting Nkemakolam counter with a right hand.
Nkemakolam throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Johnson counters with a right hand to the body.
Nkemakolam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Nkemakolam.

Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jobe Nkemakolam seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Johnson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

letting Johnson counter with a right hand.
Nice body punch from Johnson.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Nkemakolam.
Jobe Nkemakolam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randall Johnson.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Nkemakolam.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jobe Nkemakolam will probably get the nod.

Johnson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nkemakolam sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Johnson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Nkemakolam sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nkemakolam is not content to let Johnson control the position.

Nkemakolam utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson lands a couple of digs.
Johnson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Nkemakolam on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Nkemakolam tries to get out of the position.
Johnson works over Nkemakolam with some ground and pound from guard.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Johnson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Nkemakolam knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Nkemakolam is keeping the position.

Johnson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Nkemakolam looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Nkemakolam looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Nkemakolam!

Nkemakolam has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Nkemakolam is looking to clinch but Johnson is avoiding it.
Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Nkemakolam which made him look bad.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Johnson takes a shot to the body in his stride.

and Johnson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Nkemakolam keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Nkemakolam tries to get to full guard but Johnson has control of the leg.
Johnson not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Nkemakolam wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.
Johnson wants to take a breather but Nkemakolam is having none of it.

Randall Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Johnson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
