PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Guevara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Teddy Sayre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guevara comes to the cage accompanied by Chrispy - Inspector Gadget Dubstep. Sayre is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: A Country Boy Can Survive. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cesar Guevara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Teddy Sayre!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guevara uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sayre.
Guevara dodges the punch combination from Sayre.
Sayre wants to clinch up but Guevara keeps it at a distance.
Sayre scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Sayre swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Guevara counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sayre connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Guevara.

Guevara avoids the head kick by Sayre.
Sayre takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Sayre misses with the combination.
Guevara displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sayre throws out the jab.
Sayre tries to clinch up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sayre buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Sayre throws a quick inside leg kick.
Some wild striking there from Sayre.
A nice leg kick lands there from Sayre.
Teddy Sayre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Guevara lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sayre circles away quickly and effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guevara dodges the punch combination from Sayre.
Guevara misses with a double jab
and Sayre counters with a thumping low kick.
Sayre lands the left hand.
Guevara swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
A combination from Sayre does no damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sayre cracks the inside of Guevara's front leg.
Guevara scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A head kick from Sayre lands but Guevara takes it in his stride.
Sayre throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sayre throws a jab when Guevara was well out of range.
Sayre turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Teddy Sayre dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Guevara fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sayre lands with a cross.
Guevara is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Guevara swings for the body but Sayre moves out of range.
Sayre throws a right hand that Guevara ducks under and follows up with a left that Guevara also avoids with ease.
Cesar Guevara is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Guevara rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sayre counters with an outside leg kick.
Sayre misses with a double jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A low kick from Guevara is predictable there
and Sayre counters with a two punch combo.
Guevara misses with an uppercut.
Guevara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Sayre misses with a wild combination.
Guevara throws a solid leg kick but Sayre takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Guevara.
A head kick misses from Guevara.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A low kick from Guevara is predictable there
and Sayre counters with a stiff right hand.
Sayre just misses with a punch to the body.
Sayre swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Guevara counters with a one-two to the body.
Guevara tries a head kick but it misses.
A big right from Guevara misses.
Guevara pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Guevara shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Guevara misses with the combination.
Sayre throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Guevara misses with an uppercut

and Sayre counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Guevara is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sayre's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Guevara wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Sayre has him pressed against the cage.
Guevara is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Guevara seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Sayre is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.
Guevara is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sayre pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sayre lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Guevara or not.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sayre creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Sayre effectively controlling the action here.
Guevara looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Sayre softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.

Guevara breaks the clinch.
Sayre fails to land with a series of punches.
That kick from Sayre tenderised Guevara's leg. Guevara is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Teddy Sayre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Sayre lands a jab-cross combination.
Sayre connects with a high kick.


Guevara is rocked!
Sayre looks for a left high kick but can't connect. Sayre backs up to catch a breather... no he lunges forward with a huge flying knee that smacks Guevara's temple! It sends Guevara violently to the canvas! The crowd goes nuts as Sayre celebrates and the doctors try to help Guevara!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Flying Knee). Teddy Sayre!
