Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joel Kuokkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and dominickoy silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). silva has chosen inner light as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as dominickoy silva enters the cage!

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kuokkanen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
silva misses with a takedown

and Kuokkanen counters by clinching up.
silva changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kuokkanen fights it off and pushes away nicely.

silva has gone for a leg lock! Kuokkanen slips out almost immediately though and dives into silva's guard.

silva kicks Kuokkanen off and gets back to his feet.

Kuokkanen is pressed up against the cage. silva has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kuokkanen down to the mat. Kuokkanen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

silva has hold of Kuokkanen's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kuokkanen manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kuokkanen manages to avoid the submission attempt.

silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kuokkanen is looking to control silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kuokkanen avoid being mounted?
