Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harrison Christopher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Harrison Christopher!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Anthony Taglia and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christopher blocks a head kick by Black.
Christopher doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Black counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Black.
Black postures up.
Christopher being controlled here, momentarily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Christopher keeping moving, preventing Black from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

John Black has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

and Black counters with a nice low kick that buckles Christopher's knee momentarily.

and Christopher decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Black's guard.

Black has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Christopher is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Black reverses the position - he's now on top in Christopher's guard.

Christopher throws a strike but Black rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Black stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Christopher swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Black throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Christopher stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Black counters with a three punch combo that has Christopher backing up. Christopher nods at Black to acknowledge the strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


The fight stays on the outside here - Black looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Christopher with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Black to score with a decent uppercut.
John Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Black throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Black makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Christopher really felt that one!

Black's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Black scores with a one two! Christopher had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Black misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Black throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Christopher.

Harrison Christopher has got the better of the ground game so far.
Christopher wants to control but Black is keeping busy.
Black is taking a breather. Christopher says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Black is thwarting Christopher's attempts to control the position.
Black content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
John Black is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Black takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Harrison Christopher has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Black is figuring out what he wants to do next.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Black.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Black, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
