PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jaime Lener (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Tatko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatko has chosen no Music as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Danny Tatko enters the ring!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaime Lener!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Danny Tatko!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatko tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Lener counters with a stiff right hand.
Tatko misses with a combination
and Lener connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lener with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Lener shoots in looking for a takedown. Tatko tries to sprawl out of it but Lener keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Tatko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lener lands with a cross.
Tatko closes the distance and clinches up with Lener, looking for a takedown. Tatko pushes Lener against the ropes but Lener circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lener misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Tatko throws a leg kick

and Lener counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lener.
A head punch on the inside from Tatko fails to land.
Lener is looking to break free of the clinch but Tatko has double underhooks.
Tatko is trying to drag Lener to the mat but Lener just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Lener lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Tatko or not.
Tatko wants a takedown.
Jaime Lener has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Danny Tatko.

Tatko pushes off an throws an elbow but Lener leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Lener has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

We're going to have a standup here because Jaime Lener wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Lener lands a glancing blow to the side of Tatko's head.
Tatko has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lener.
Lener creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Tatko sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Lener wants to stand but Tatko has his arm trapped.
Tatko avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Lener.
Tatko is looking to reverse the position.
Lener is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Lener tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Lener misses with the ground and pound.

Lener is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tatko will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Lener goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Tatko has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lener but great work by Tatko.

Tatko takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lener darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Good exchange - Lener coming out on top.
Lener fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lener.
Lener throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Tatko on the side of the head.
Danny Tatko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Lener closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tatko did well to prevent Lener getting side control.
Lener really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Tatko prevents Lener from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Lener manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Lener is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tatko is defending well for now.
Lener will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Tatko up against the ropes.

Lener turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Lener misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Tatko is letting Lener control him for a moment.

The referee asks Lener politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lener prefers to stall for the moment though.

Lener postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Tatko tries to buck Lener off but Lener is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well Lener has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
