The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Houk but Houk pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Houk avoids the head kick by Brown.

Brown fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Houk to the ground. Brown is now in Houk's guard.
Brown controls from within his opponent's guard.
Houk is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Houk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brown is one step ahead there.
Brown controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Brown postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Houk is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Brown, into his guard.

Brown pulls Houk in close to his closed guard and prevents Houk from doing any damage or advancing position.
Houk wants to stand but Brown is controlling his posture from full guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Brown is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Derek Brown hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Houk tried to score with a low kick but Brown checks it.
Houk throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Brown is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Houk's half guard.

Houk tries to kick Brown off in order to stand up. Brown Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Brown wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Houk, who protects the arm well.

Brown has hold of Houk's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Houk seems comfortable defending it but Brown has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Houk is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Houk is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Brown couldn't care less - he's delighted!
